Employment Program for Persons with Disabilities:
Planning and Employment Services

  • Planning and Employment Services provided under the Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance ’ s Employment Program for Persons with Disabilities (EPPD) assists individuals in assessing their goals, skills and necessary employment supports for participating in the workplace to the best of their ability.
  • Planning and Employment Services offers a full range of supports such as job training and placement, technical equipment, physical accommodation and follow-up workplace support.
  • These services reflect the understanding that some persons with disabilities may benefit from a supportive environment that motivates them and builds their confidence so that they can become involved in employment-related activities whether part-time, full-time or voluntary.
  • Planning and Employment Services is available to individuals:
  • With a persistent condition involving a physical, developmental or mental health disability, that is their primary barrier to finding and maintaining employment;
  • whose barrier to employment may be reduced or remedied with EPPD supports and services; and,
  • who are capable of participating in and benefiting from the range of activities provided.
  • Eligibility for Planning and Employment Services is determined through assessments conducted by the service providers on an individual basis.
  • A person does not have to be receiving BC Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities to participate in EPPD Planning and Employment Services.

Background:

  • Planning and Employment Services are part of the ministry ’ s Employment Program for Persons with Disabilities.
  • Employment Program for Persons with Disabilities provides persons with disabilities with the tools and resources they need in areas of planning, pre-employment, disability supports for employment and self-employment.
